On July 17, the NBL (National Basketball League) officially announced that the Illawarra Hawks and the Brisbane Bullets will play two pre-season games against the Shanghai Sharks.

The Illawarra Hawks are pleased to announce they will host an international pre-season game against the Shanghai Sharks at the Wollongong Snakepit on Saturday, August 17th.
The Shanghai Sharks boast top-tier talent including national team players Wang Zhelin, Shi Liyongwei, and Liu Zheng. The game against the Hawks will be the first of two matches the Sharks will play in Australia, with the second scheduled for August 23rd against the Brisbane Bullets.
Vince Crivelli, NBL Chief Operating Officer and Head of Basketball Operations, said, “We have strong ties with the international basketball community, including the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association), and these connections are vital to the ongoing development of the NBL.”
