July 27 news: According to renowned sports journalist Woj, the Phoenix Suns have agreed to trade forward David Roddy to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for E.J. Liddell. Liddell was previously sent to the Pelicans by the Hawks as part of the Dejounte Murray trade.
On the surface, this move by the Suns will alleviate more tax burdens. Roddy’s salary for the 2024-25 season is $2.8 million, and his salary for the 2025-26 season is $4.8 million (team option). Liddell’s salary for next season is $2.1 million, and his salary for the 2025-26 season is $2.3 million (team option).
In the 2022 NBA Draft, the Pelicans selected Liddell with the 41st pick. Last season, Liddell played 23 games in the G League, averaging 17.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.
