On August 4th, Hangzhou Guangsha Men’s Basketball Team officially announced that they have signed American basketball player Nathan Knight. The official announcement reads as follows: After careful consideration by the coaching team and management, Hangzhou Guangsha Basketball Club has signed American basketball player Nathan Knight. Once all necessary materials are submitted to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) company and approved, he will represent Hangzhou Guangsha Basketball Club in the 2024-2025 CBA League season. Nathan Knight was born on September 20, 1997, in the United States, standing at 2.08 meters tall and weighing 115 kilograms. He plays as a power forward or center. He graduated from William & Mary College. During his four-year college career, Knight averaged 17.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game. In his senior year, he averaged 20.7 points and 10.5 rebounds, recording 23 double-doubles, which made him the fourth NCAA player in history to average 20+10. After graduating from university in 2020, Knight signed a two-way contract with the Atlanta Hawks as an undrafted player, subsequently playing for four NBA teams: the Hawks, Celtics, Knicks, and Timberwolves. Last season, Knight played for the Motor City Cruise in the NBA G League, appearing in 30 games where he averaged 12.8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in 26.8 minutes per game. Knight is known for his explosive physicality, keen sense of rebounding, strength combined with agility, and his technical skills that perfectly align with the team’s system. It is hoped that Knight’s addition will contribute significantly to both offense and defense, alleviating pressure on the team’s frontcourt. Moreover, it is anticipated that his dynamic playing style will ignite the enthusiasm of the home crowd next season. Yesterday, Hangzhou Guangsha also announced the signing of foreign player Barry Brown, who previously played for Beijing Guo’an and Guangzhou Longxi Men’s Basketball Team.
