Charles Moves Up to Second in All-Time Scoring List as Dream Secures Third Straight Win Approaching Top Eight

On August 22, the WNBA regular season continued with the Atlanta Dream defeating the Phoenix Mercury 72-63, securing their third straight win.

The Atlanta Dream has been performing very well recently. They took the lead over the Mercury right from the start, leading by 13 points after the first quarter. Unfortunately, they were continuously caught up by the Mercury in subsequent quarters, and by the end of the third quarter, both teams were back on an even footing. In the final quarter, the Dream re-established their form, launching a 17-2 run that widened the gap once again, thus setting the stage for their victory.

In this game, Charles performed well again. Despite struggling with her shooting touch, she managed to score 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting but grabbed 17 rebounds. Additionally, with these 12 points, Charles moved up to second place on the WNBA all-time scoring list, just behind Diana Taurasi of the Mercury, who warmly congratulated her with a hug.

Apart from Charles, Grey scored 21 points, while Howard contributed 19 points. It was their collective performance that helped secure the team’s victory. With this three-game winning streak, they have moved closer to the top eight positions.
