After taking office, I replaced some players with the hope of giving the team a fresh start, a new change, and a new atmosphere. “Shandong is a province that places great importance on sports, and basketball is no exception. The Shandong Hi-Speed Men’s Basketball Team must return to the playoffs in the new season. Therefore, when choosing players, we first consider their immediate combat capability, while also considering the team’s renewal process, focusing on nurturing some promising young talents.

Over the past few years, there has been a gap in the development of players born between 1999 and 2003 within the Shandong Men’s Basketball Team. Currently, only Chen Peidong and Hou Paizuo are the young players in this age group. Chen Peidong previously played in the NBL before returning to the Shandong Men’s Basketball Team. I believe he has not yet reached his ideal state and needs to improve significantly. I had an impression of Hou Paizuo when I was still with the Shenzhen team, but he has been stagnating over the past two years. Therefore, in addition to players like Yu Dehao, Guo Kai, and Sun Tonglin who have immediate combat capability, we have also introduced young talents with potential such as Lu Yiming, Mi Aili, and Zhang Xu, aiming to lay the groundwork for future generational transitions.

In this year’s CBA draft, we selected Xie Zhijie and Zheng Xiaoyao. Both have been very diligent since joining the team, but they will also need time to adapt to the CBA.”
