Earlier, the well-known sports website HoopsHype released the top 100 player rankings for the 2024-25 NBA season, among which LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant all fell outside the top ten.
The rankings show that Durant is ranked eleventh, James is placed thirteenth, and Curry is fourteenth. Notable NBA stars such as James Harden, Leonard, and Kyrie Irving did not make it into the top fifteen.
After this ranking was released, the most discussed topic was that Haliburton of the Pacers was actually ranked ahead of James and Curry.
The 24-year-old Haliburton may be the best playmaker in the NBA in the future. In the 2023-24 regular season, he led the league with an average of 10.9 assists per game. This is the second consecutive season he has averaged over 10 assists; in the 2022-23 season, his average was 10.4 assists per game.
Of course, the reason Haliburton is seen as a potential top-tier point guard in the NBA is not just because he excels at organizing the offense, but also because he possesses outstanding scoring ability. Last season, he averaged 20.1 points, with a field goal percentage of 47.7% and a three-point shooting percentage of 36.4%.
In addition, during the 2024 NBA playoffs, Haliburton led the Pacers to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2014. Meanwhile, James’ Lakers were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.
The following are the top fifteen rankings: 1. Nikola Jokic (Nuggets)
2. Luka Doncic (Mavericks)
3. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder)
4. Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks)
5. Joel Embiid (76ers)
