Clippers Re-Sign Ivica Zubac to a Three-Year Deal; He Will Anchor the Frontcourt with Mo Bamba and Keon Johnson in the New Season

August 31 news, according to renowned sports journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, Ivica Zubac has agreed to a three-year, $58.6 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers. This is the maximum amount of money Zubac could receive over three years and locks him into a total of $70 million over the next four years.

After another outstanding season, it was widely expected that the Clippers would re-sign Zubac during the off-season, so this contract comes as no surprise. The 27-year-old Zubac has quietly become one of the NBA’s best centers, averaging career-highs last season with 11.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

In the future, Zubac may never become an All-Star player, but his rebounding ability, interior defense, and pick-and-roll chemistry with Kawhi Leonard and James Harden make him a key component of the Clippers’ core lineup. For a player who the team acquired relatively cheaply (trading for the then-aging Mike Muscala in 2019), such performance has been quite commendable.

For the Clippers, given the departure of Paul George and Westbrook, along with underwhelming recruitment efforts, signing Zubac to this deal was an easy decision. Zubac will join Mo Bamba and Keon Johnson in anchoring the Clippers’ frontcourt for the 2024-25 season.
