Heat Sign Little to a Minimum Deal, Roster Spot Not Fully Guaranteed

September 25 news, the Miami Heat will enter training camp next week. Despite already having some excellent wing players on the roster such as Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Jamie Jaquez, Josh Richardson, and Duncan Robinson, considering the injury history of this group of players, they have chosen to add some depth to their lineup.

According to renowned sports journalist Chris Haynes, the Heat have reached an agreement with former first-round draft pick Nassir Little on a standard contract, which will occupy the 15th and final spot on the Heat’s regular-season roster.

It is worth noting that the contract Little has received is a minimum deal and is almost certainly not a guaranteed contract (or it may be partially guaranteed). Because if this were a fully guaranteed contract, the Heat’s salary expenditure would exceed the second luxury tax threshold. However, if the team needs Little to play the entire season, they still have other measures to avoid this situation.

Little is an excellent defensive wing player who spent his first four seasons in the league with the Portland Trail Blazers before being traded to the Phoenix Suns last season. With the Suns, he played 45 games, averaging 3.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in just 10 minutes per game. In the new season, his performance on the court will give him the opportunity for more playing time.
