Sichuan Women's Basketball vs. Cathay Life Preview: Han Xu & Li Meng Face a Test in a Crucial Match Affecting Rankings

On September 27, the Asian Women’s Basketball League enters its second day of competition, with Sichuan Far Da Mele Women’s Basketball Team facing off against Cathay Life Women’s Basketball Team from Chinese Taipei.

A total of four teams are participating in this Asian Women’s Basketball League, competing in a single round-robin format to determine the rankings. The four teams are: Sichuan Far Da Mele, champions of China’s WCBA; Fujitsu Red Wave, champions of Japan’s league; Surya Heat, champions of Indonesia’s league; and Cathay Life, champions of Chinese Taipei.

In their first match, Sichuan Far Da Mele defeated the Indonesian team Surya Heat 83-45. Due to a significant gap in strength between the two sides, Sichuan Far Da Mele pulled ahead early, with all 12 players on the team taking the court and scoring. Tang Ziting contributed the highest points for the team with 13, followed by Han Xu with 12, Jia Saiqi with 11, Li Shuangfei with 11, Wang Siyu with 9, Gao Song with 6, Li Meng with 6, Jin Weinan with 2, and Bishop with 2 points and 12 rebounds.

Cathay Life Women’s Basketball Team won their first match 76-70 against the Japanese team Fujitsu Red Wave. Player No. 6 Huang Lingjuan made five out of eight three-pointers, contributing 19 points, while center Xiao Yumen, wearing No. 18, added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The home team Sichuan Far Da Mele boasts a luxurious lineup, including outstanding players such as Han Xu, Li Meng, Wang Siyu, Jin Weinan, Zhang Manman, Tang Ziting, Gao Song, Li Shuangfei, and others, with their sights set on the championship.

The Cathay Life Women’s Basketball Team from Chinese Taipei is also formidable, featuring well-known players like Han Yayan, Huang Lingjuan, Zheng Yixiu, Liu Xinyu, and the 19-year-old sensation Xiao Yumen, who made a name for herself in 2022 when she scored an explosive 39 points and 15 rebounds at the U18 Asian Cup at just 17 years old.

In terms of overall strength, Sichuan Far Da Mele holds a certain advantage, but they cannot afford to underestimate Cathay Life, whose strength is also notable. The outcome of this match could potentially sway the final championship results.
