The Nomination List for the 2024 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame: Gong Xiaobin, Miao Lijie, and Chen Nan Included; The Official List to Be Announced in Mid-Month

Today, the official Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) announced the nomination list for the 2024 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame. The full announcement is as follows:

“The nomination list for the 2024 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame has been confirmed, and it includes the following names:

Nominated for Outstanding Male Athlete are: Zhang Guanglie, Zhang Xishan, Cai Jiejie; Li Handing (re-entry), Gong Xiaobin (re-entry)

Nominated for Outstanding Female Athlete are: Zhou Yixian, Yang Jie, Chen Changfeng; Miao Lijie (re-entry), Chen Nan (re-entry)

Nominated for Outstanding Coach are: Ma Qingsheng, Wang Changyou

Nominated for Outstanding Referee are: Guo Yupei, Luo Jingrong

This nomination process took nearly two weeks, with the ‘Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame Nomination Committee’ responsible for recommending the nomination list from a list of candidates. The nomination committee consists of over 400 representatives from the basketball community, including active and retired athletes, coaches, referees, and media personnel. Deloitte Huayong CPA Limited acted as the sole independent certification body, responsible for the distribution, collection, and tallying of nomination forms, providing independent and fair certification services for the event.

According to the ‘Re-entry Rules’, Li Handing, Gong Xiaobin, Miao Lijie, and Chen Nan, who entered the final review stage last year, re-entered the nomination list this year. The nomination list was approved by the Chinese Basketball Association.

According to the ‘2024 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame Nomination Plan’, the scale of this year’s induction is nine individuals. In late October 2024, the ‘Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame Final Review Committee’ will recommend four ‘Outstanding Athletes’ (two male and two female), one ‘Outstanding Coach’, and one ‘Outstanding Referee’ from the nomination list, and vote on the ‘Pioneers of Chinese Basketball’ nomination list (Li Zhenzhong, Wu Chengzhang, Huang Lie), forming the final review list.

The final review list will be reviewed and approved by the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame Committee and the Chinese Basketball Association. In mid-November, the official list of inductees for the 2024 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame will be announced.”
