On October 4th, the second stage of the CBA preseason continued with Guangdong losing 84-90 to Zhejiang, suffering their first preseason defeat.
This game started with both teams locked in a tug-of-war. Zhejiang took the initiative with York scoring two consecutive three-pointers. Afterward, under the leadership of Xu Jie and Bazley, Guangdong caught up with the score. In the second half, the game was paused for 40 minutes due to Yu Jiahao shattering the backboard with a dunk. Upon resumption, Guangdong’s offensive performance slumped, while Zhejiang kept widening the gap. Guangdong failed to keep up and ultimately lost the game.
Hu Mingxuan was still absent from this game. Bazley played for 37 minutes, making 11 out of 24 shots, scoring a game-high 32 points, along with 13 rebounds and 4 blocks, but it all turned out to be in vain. Additionally, Xu Jie scored 22 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists. Apart from these two, no other Guangdong player managed to provide substantial scoring support.
The other foreign player, Barton, struggled for the second consecutive game. He played for 26 minutes, shooting 2 out of 12, including 0 out of 2 from beyond the arc, only managing to score 4 points. However, he did contribute 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals, though he also had 4 turnovers.
