On October 22, the CBA regular season will see Liaoning Men’s Basketball Team hosting Qingdao Men’s Basketball Team. Before the game, Liaoning head coach Yang Ming gave an interview to the media.
Q: The team’s perimeter play was inconsistent in the last game. How do you plan to adjust?
Yang Ming: Each game brings different challenges. Under this format, it’s difficult to maintain consistent performance. Seven games in 14 days, everyone is playing at a high intensity, and we need to ensure rotation time and player health. Balancing these factors is indeed very challenging. We will address the three-point shooting issues in training, and the results will be seen on the court.
Q: As a veteran, Han Dejun will face the well-performing Yang Hanshen tonight. What are your thoughts?
Yang Ming: Our veteran players play a crucial role, like Han Dejun, Xiaoxu, and Jiwei, among others. Their abilities are not in question; we just need to manage their playing time, including that of the foreign players. This isn’t just a matchup between Han Dejun and Yang Hanshen; it’s Liaoning versus Qingdao.
Q: How do you evaluate the performance of the team’s foreign players? What’s the situation with Felder?
Yang Ming: I am currently satisfied with our three foreign players, and there is still potential to be unlocked. It’s early in the season, and after a few more games, when teams have studied each other more, their performances will be further tested. After the first stage, we will conduct an assessment. Regarding Felder, I don’t have much information because I haven’t seen him. The reason for considering him was to address some injury risks within the team as a supplementary option. After the assessment, it seems that making adjustments might be a bit difficult.
