On June 14, Luka Dončić granted an interview and offered some one-on-one advice to Warriors player, Kevon Looney.
Looney asked,
“I’m a huge fan of yours. I admire you a lot. You’re great at one-on-one situations and utilizing off-ball players to create advantages. You also know how to maintain and exploit position, which makes it tough for help defenders. What I would like to learn from you or ask is, what’s your mindset when it comes to defeating your defender?”
Dončić replied,
“Firstly, I observe how long the defender under the basket stays in the paint. If they’ve been there for two seconds, they’ll have to leave soon. That’s when I initiate the offense. I try to read the game — if they come at me, I can kick it out to the sides, but if they don’t, I’ll go straight to the rim.”
