Current WBC Super featherweight champion and two-time world titleholder Devin Hani (31-0, 15 KO) expressed his views to the media, stating that Ryan Garcia’s (24-1, 20 KO) one-year suspension for using Ostarine and intentionally weighing in over the limit is too short. He believes the punishment should be longer, possibly a lifetime ban, and the fine amount is insufficient.
Hani questioned the fairness of the fine going to Golden Boy Promotions, saying, “Is it right for Golden Boy to receive this money? They haven’t even addressed Garcia’s doping issue. He weighed in 4.3 pounds over, yet no transfer from Delahoya to me. Now, their account will see an additional $1.1 million. That money should be split among me, the New York State Athletic Commission, and VADA.”
The WBC Global President, little Sulaiman, declared, “The WBC will not impose further sanctions on Ryan Garcia. We are here to support him; he’s just a regular person who’s faced setbacks. This goes beyond boxing – Garcia needs support and attention. We will continue to back him.”
Yesterday, Ryan Garcia announced on social media that he was stepping away from boxing to pursue a career in UFC. However, given his extensive boxing background, adapting to mixed martial arts might prove challenging for him.
