Former two-division world champion and boxing commentator Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (33-2-1, 13 KOs) recently stated that if current WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) were to face WBC lightweight titlist Shakur Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) in a unification bout at 135 pounds, he believes Stevenson would emerge victorious on points.
Bradley commented, “Shakur Stevenson is very agile, he knows how to control distance, and Davis has somewhat short arms, so it will be difficult for him to land on Stevenson. Stevenson will be moving all night; he won’t stand and trade with Davis but rather throw a 1-2 punch and then move back to maintain distance. This fight will definitely be tactical, and I predict Stevenson to win by decision.”
Davis is currently planning a unification clash with IBF lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) in November. Stevenson would be a tougher version of Frank Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) for Davis, and unless there’s significant money involved, it’s unlikely that Davis would choose to face Stevenson.
