Former four-time super-middleweight world champion, British “Cobra” Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs), recently told the media that former three-belt heavyweight titlist Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) has a real chance of losing to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) on September 21, as Joshua is no longer the fighter he once was.
Carl Froch said, “Joshua isn’t the same Joshua anymore. If he loses to Dubois, we might not see him in the ring again. I’ve said it multiple times, Joshua’s mentality hasn’t been the same since his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. (first fight). To be honest, his spirit has been broken, and he’s given up inside.”
After losing to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019, Joshua shifted away from his aggressive style and began emulating Wladimir Klitschko, focusing on technical boxing and using his jab to control opponents while seeking stability. However, in his last two contests, Joshua performed well under the guidance of new trainer Ben Davison, with his technique further improving, and more importantly, he’s not holding back on his power punches.
