Former three-division world champion James “Lights Out” Toney (77-10-3, 47 KOs) has told media that he believes current WBA lightweight titlist Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) would destroy WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs).
“Shakur Stevenson is a young fighter, let him grow into his own. When the time is right, he’ll fight Davis. Davis is at the peak of his powers now, and it’s a bad move for Stevenson to face him now. Davis will ruin Stevenson’s career, just like Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) ruined Spence’s (28-1, 22 KOs),” said Toney.
Shakur Stevenson won his first WBC lightweight title defense earlier today with scorecards of 119-109, 118-110, and 116-112 over Artem Harutyunyan.
