Recently, promoter Frank Warren, representing current IBF interim heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs), stated that the winner of the September 21 showdown between Joshua and Dubois should be in line to face the victor of Usyk vs. Fury II, ultimately leading to a unification clash in the division.
Frank Warren said, “Usyk will be earning a lot of money in this second fight – it’s purely about the money for him, not the accolades or status. If Usyk cared about his legacy, he wouldn’t have vacated the IBF title. He needs the money, and this rematch will bring him that. Their first fight was close, so the second one will be even bigger. Regardless, I believe Dubois will defeat Joshua on September 21st, and then he’ll face the winner of Usyk vs. Fury II, marking another attempt at unifying the four major boxing organizations.
If Usyk defeats Tyson Fury again, he might return to cruiserweight. He’s already had two fights with Joshua and knocked out Dubois, so the remaining heavyweights wouldn’t offer him substantial purses.
