Recently, former two-division world champion and boxing commentator Timothy Bradley (33-2-1, 13 KOs) told the media that he believes current IBF lightweight champion and three-division world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) can handle WBA lightweight regular champion and three-division world titlist Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).
Bradley said, “I don’t think Davis is an enigma for Lomachenko. If Davis doesn’t knock out Lomachenko, Lomachenko will beat him on points. Lomachenko has had three opponents who gave him trouble: Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), Teofimo Lopez (20-0, 13 KOs), and Orlando Salido (44-14-4, 31 KOs). All three were good at moving and connecting with Lomachenko. Davis’ movement is somewhat similar to Rigondeaux (22-3, 15 KOs), which doesn’t pose a threat to Lomachenko. I believe Lomachenko will show something that Davis hasn’t seen before. Typically, boxing legends have one last classic victory before retiring.”
Lomachenko is currently in negotiations with Davis for a fight that could take place in November. Lomachenko is now 36 years old, past his prime, while Davis is 29 and in his prime. Most people are currently favoring the younger and stronger Davis.
