Ukrainian super-welterweight interim champion Serhiy Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) recently told the media that he believes his countryman, former WBC light heavyweight titlist Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs), has all the tools to defeat David Benavídez (28-0, 24 KOs).
Serhiy Bohachuk: “In the Davis vs. Martin fight, I was on Gervonta Davis’ (29-0, 27 KOs) side because he’s much better than Frank Martin (18-0, 12 KOs). But for Gvozdyk vs. Benavídez, I hope and believe in Gvozdyk. He has everything it takes to beat David Benavídez. Gvozdyk has won a belt at 175 pounds, has experience, is strong, and disciplined – he should also defeat Benavídez. I’m picking Gvozdyk.”
The 37-year-old Gvozdyk is currently an underdog with odds of 1-5. Benavídez, 10 years younger, is at the peak of his career and is just one or two big wins away from superstardom, highly motivated for success.
