Former two-time heavyweight king, British “Gypsy King” Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), recently told the media that he will avenge his loss to current WBC/WBA Super/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) on December 21st.
Fury said, “I’ve achieved everything in boxing – the belts, records, and so on. But I haven’t come back successfully after a defeat. On December 21st, I will reclaim my spot at the top of the heavyweight division and become the Undisputed Four-Belt Champion. Usyk, I’m coming for you. Be ready to face the Gypsy King. I know what I need to do; I’ve identified my weaknesses and am already back in the gym preparing. I will rise again. December 21st is my time. I’ve accomplished everything, except bouncing back from a loss. This is a great opportunity for me to bounce back strong.”
The 35-year-old Fury lost to Usyk on May 18th via controversial scorecards of 113-114, 112-115, and 114-113, with a knockdown in round 9. However, he had good moments in rounds 3 through 7, using his movement to trouble Usyk significantly. In the final rounds, Usyk adjusted his tactics, and Fury’s stamina appeared to wane.
