This morning, former WBO interim heavyweight champion Zhang Zhilei (27-2-1, 22 KOs) lived up to expectations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, scoring a significant victory by TKO in the fifth round against former WBC heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs).
After the bout, Zhang stated, “Today, the Queenberry team swept Matchroom 5-0. My mission is to carry the Chinese flag high wherever I compete.”
Promoter Frank Warren commented, “You know what we want to do in the future, and I hope we can arrange a fight for Zhang in China next.”
If Warren stages a bout in China, selling tickets might be challenging, as a large portion of Chinese boxing fans are not accustomed to purchasing tickets for such events; historically, many have attended with complimentary passes.
