Former world heavyweight champion James “Buster” Douglas (38-6-1, 25 KOs) recently told the media that he believes Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) would defeat Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), especially considering Fury’s current inability to withstand power punches.
Douglas said, “If they were to fight, I favor Joshua to beat Fury. It’s not that Fury’s career is on a decline, but he no longer has the strength to absorb heavy blows. Once Fury faces combinations, he becomes fatigued and loses a significant amount of power. So, Joshua has a high chance of knocking out Fury. I have faith in Joshua; he can and will beat Tyson Fury.”
Fury is set to face Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) for their rematch on December 21st. Regardless of the outcome, he plans to meet Joshua before July 2025, which will be one of the biggest fights in the boxing world next year.
