IEM Chengdu 2024: Youthful Resilience as MOUZ Defeat FURIA 2-1

In the winners’ group of Group A at IEM Chengdu 2024, FURIA clashed with MOUZ. On the first map, Nuke, FURIA displayed a fierce offensive, securing a solid lead before halftime, and then continued their dominance on the defense to win 13-8. After an intense overtime battle in the second map, MOUZ managed to force a third map, where they found their comfort zone and emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline.

The first map was FURIA’s pick, Nuke. Starting as attackers, they took the pistol round but were soon met with resistance from MOUZ, particularly torzsi’s AWP forming a formidable barrier. However, arT and FalleN’s performance in the latter half of the half helped the Brazilian squad regain momentum. In the second half, despite losing the pistol round, FURIA fought back and KSCERATO’s consistent carry secured a 13-8 victory for FURIA in Map One.

On MOUZ’s pick, they proved to be a solid defensive unit, taking a commanding 10-2 lead at halftime. Yet, their offensive struggles allowed FURIA’s arT, yuurih, and chelo to catch fire, nearly erasing the deficit. Despite the close call, MOUZ held their ground in overtime to win Map Two 16-14.

Map Three was Mirage, and after FURIA took the pistol round and a 4-1 lead, Brollan and torzsi started shining, turning the tide to lead 7-5 by halftime. In the second half, MOUZ took the pistol round, while FURIA sought opportunities in the rifle rounds. FalleN’s early AWP play aided in controlling the map, but MOUZ broke through on B-site to secure a 13-8 victory and the match.
