On June 25th, the Italian national team drew 1-1 against Croatia in their final Euro Cup group match, securing a spot in the Round of 16, where they will face Switzerland.
According to Tuttosport, the exclusion of Federico Chiesa, a Juventus player, from the starting eleven by Coach Roberto Mancini due to poor form marked the first time since the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France that no Juventus players featured in Italy’s starting lineup. The last occurrence was during Italy’s second group stage match against Cameroon in that same World Cup.
In this Euro Cup, Juventus had four representatives in Italy’s squad: Chiesa, Cambiaso, Fagioli, and Gatti. However, only Chiesa managed to establish himself as a regular starter under Mancini.
