On July 1st, according to reports from the South Korean media outlet Naver, several high-ranking officials within the Korea Football Association (KFA) have tendered their resignations, following the resignation of Jung Hae-sung, the head of the Special Committee in charge of selecting the national team’s manager.
A KFA insider stated, “Some committee members verbally expressed their intention to resign today, but no formal letters have been submitted yet.”
With Jung’s departure, the responsibility for the national team coach selection process has fallen to Lee Lim-sung, the head of the Technical Department. Lee is set to travel abroad tomorrow to meet with potential candidates for the position. However, the resignations of multiple members from the Special Committee come at a critical juncture, posing challenges in the search for a new manager for the Korean national team. Previously, coaches like Jesse Marsch and Jesus Casas were among the foreign candidates considered, but none were ultimately chosen.
