Belgium is set to face France in the Round of 16 of the European Championship, and ahead of the match, there have been rumors that France might switch to a 4-4-2 formation. Belgium’s coach, Tedesco, addressed this in a press conference.
It has been reported that France has been training with a 4-4-2, featuring Mbappe and Thuram as a striking duo.
Tedesco commented, “I know they last used this setup in 2021, and for us, it’s a good sign. When a team wants to adapt to our style, it means we’re doing something right.”
“Of course, it could also be that they’re proactively changing their tactics and approach. Regardless of who plays or what system they use, we all agree that this French team is very strong,” he added.
Tedesco continued, “Every coach has a clear plan, and so do we. In such games, you need to adapt quickly and understand more. Having only one game plan would be too straightforward; we need multiple plans and great adaptability.”
Regarding the injury status of full-back Meunier, Tedesco confirmed that he wouldn’t be fit for the match: “Meunier still needs two more days of individual training before he can rejoin the team sessions.”
