According to French media source GFFN, Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli has emerged as the top target for Marseille. New Marseille boss Maurizio Sarri aims to reunite with his former player in France.
Locatelli played for Sassuolo from 2018 to 2021 under then-manager Sarri, with whom he enjoyed a successful partnership. With Sarri now at the helm of Marseille, he intends to make signings that will help the team contend for the Ligue 1 title next season.
The Italian midfielder is reportedly open to leaving Juventus this summer, and the Bianconeri are looking to offload players to facilitate the signing of Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz and other reinforcements.
Initial talks between the two clubs regarding Locatelli’s transfer have already taken place, with a loan deal being a possible option.
