Manuel Fernandes, a legendary Portuguese footballer, has died at the age of 73.
The former Sporting CP and national team player passed away on Thursday after a long hospitalization following a tumor operation on May 22.
Manuel Fernandes, who represented Sporting CP as a player from 1975 to 1987, was one of the club’s all-time greats. He returned to Alvalade as head coach in the 2000/01 season after serving as an assistant for many years.
