Xiao Zhi began his professional career with Jiangsu’s second professional football club, Nanjing Youyou, where he displayed exceptional physical attributes among his peers. His efforts contributed to Haibao’s promotion to the Chinese Super League in the 2021 season. In 2023, Xiao Zhi returned to Guangzhou, joining the newly established Guangzhou Leopards. During that season’s China Amateur Football League, he scored 12 goals, proving to be a crucial attacking force for the team. With this, Xiao Zhi has now completed his “check-in” across all four levels of Chinese football (CSL, China League One, China League Two, and China Amateur Football League) and scored in each tier.
