German starting defender Antonio Rüdiger, in an interview with Kicker, previewed the upcoming quarter-final match.
Facing the hosts, Spain, Rüdiger emphasized the significance of the clash: “You can’t afford any errors against Spain. Their counter-attacks are menacing, especially with Nico Williams and Yamar on the wings. They have a strong squad overall, and it’s a clash between two of the most consistent teams so far in the tournament.”
“Williams and Yamar are young, but they’ve taken responsibility, given their all, and aren’t afraid to make mistakes,” Rüdiger praised the La Liga youngsters he shares the league with.
“We must be brave going forward because their defense has its vulnerabilities. They’re good at high pressing, but we can cope with that. We just need excellent ball control and to remain calm under pressure.”
