On July 4th, former Manchester United teammate Wes Brown expressed his support for Cristiano Ronaldo, believing that he will continue to contribute to Portugal’s title pursuit in upcoming matches.
In Euro history, Ronaldo holds the records for most appearances (29) and all-time top scorer (14 goals). However, in this tournament, he is yet to find the back of the net. After missing a penalty in extra time, Ronaldo converted his spot-kick in the subsequent shootout. Many have questioned his role as a starter.
But Brown stood by Ronaldo, stating, “Ronaldo has a huge heart on the pitch; nobody has a better mentality. Missing the penalty was frustrating for him, and some around me even suggest he shouldn’t start anymore. I completely disagree with that view. I believe Ronaldo can still make a difference for Portugal. Although he might be disappointed not to score, he is a team player. He knows how to win games and only thinks about contributing to the team’s success.”
