On July 2, English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur officially announced the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United. The deal is set until 2030, with Gray set to wear the number 14 shirt for Spurs.
At just 18 years old, Gray came through the Leeds United youth system and made a total of 52 appearances across all competitions for the team last season. Capable of playing in central midfield and at right-back, he offers versatility.
Gray’s father, Andy, his grandfather, Frank, and his great-grandfather, Eddie, also had spells with Leeds United, making him a true homegrown talent with deep roots in the club.
It was reported that Leeds United were reluctant to part ways with the promising youngster, but to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), they needed to balance their books by selling players.
According to previous reports by Romano, the transfer fee for Gray is roughly £40 million.
