On July 6 at 00:00, the quarterfinal of the European Championship sees Germany taking on Spain. Former German international Torsten Frings has stated that it’s an even contest.
In his column for “Kicker,” Frings writes, “This will be an open match with both teams having genuine chances. We can’t afford to shy away from Spain; we must try to impose ourselves on them.”
Despite the 6-0 drubbing by Spain previously, Frings believes the German team won’t be intimidated. He adds, “The similarity between the 2008 Spanish team and the current one is their cohesion and ball control. But there’s a difference: They’re not at the same peak as 16 years ago, they’re not unbeatable.”
“We need to contain Spain’s brilliant attacking play, especially their wingers Nico Williams and Yamar, without forgetting our own strengths. We have the ability to attack bravely too.”
