Reason for Rejecting Real Madrid? Spanish Media: Lille will Suspend Yoro for a Year if He Doesn't Sign with Manchester United

According to Fabrizio Romano, Lille’s rising star, Yoro, announced his signing with Manchester United rather than the previously much-discussed Real Madrid. Today, Marca revealed why Yoro chose Manchester United over Real Madrid.

The article points out that ultimately, Manchester United will pay Lille a transfer fee of €50 million plus €20 million in variable bonuses. In reality, at an early stage, Real Madrid had been in the lead, and Yoro’s agent, Mendes, had consistently stated that Yoro’s future was with Real Madrid. However, Manchester United never gave up, even when Real Madrid had already reached a verbal agreement with Yoro.

Lille’s asking price for Yoro was between €50 and €60 million, but Real Madrid considered this offer unrealistic because Yoro had only one season left on his contract. As such, in their initial two bids, Real Madrid even lowered this price to below €30 million. Real Madrid was overly confident about securing Yoro’s move, a strategy that had proven successful in the cases of Bellingham and Camavinga.

However, this time, Real Madrid miscalculated. In order to obtain a higher transfer fee, Lille also began pressuring Yoro. The club indicated that if Yoro did not sign with Manchester United, he would be suspended from the team for a year. This ultimately led to Yoro choosing Manchester United.
