Former Dutch star and Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt recently spoke to Ladbrokes 1-2-Free in the UK. In the interview, he discussed Liverpool’s new manager, Ronald Koeman Slot, as well as his recent connections with Liverpool.
Kuyt is currently coaching Beerschot in the Belgian league. Last season, he led the team to promotion to the top division of Belgian football. Kuyt shares a history with Liverpool’s new boss Slot. The final stop in Kuyt’s career was Feyenoord, where Slot previously coached. Kuyt’s son still plays in Feyenoord’s youth academy and has been under Slot’s guidance.
In the interview, Kuyt said, “Slot is a family man, but he is also obsessed with football—he lives and breathes it 24/7. If you watch his press conferences, you’ll find that he speaks well and articulates his ideas clearly.
“He can be very funny at times, but also straight-talking. He knows everything about football—not just Dutch football. Ask him anything about the sport, and he’ll have an answer. Premier League fans should take to him quite well.”
“Of course, if there’s any way I can assist Liverpool, I would do so. I maintain contact with people at the club. I’ve done some work for the club’s foundation and, of course, some commercial work for them. I remain close to them. Whether on or off the pitch, I always try to help Liverpool because when you sign for Liverpool, you become part of one big family.”
