Kane: Media Criticism is Too One-Sided; I Do More Than Just Score Goals, I Also Defend

Kane: Media Criticism is Too One-Sided; I Do More Than Just Score Goals, I Also DefendOn July 10th, England’s captain, Kane, in an interview with The Mirror, criticized the media’s approach to criticizing him.

In the semi-finals of the European Championship, Kane will lead the England team against the Netherlands in Dortmund. He has scored two goals in this European Championship so far, while Dutch forward Gakpo has netted three, leading to a barrage of criticism from outside sources.

In response, Kane said, “I hope I can score a few goals against the Netherlands, and then you’ll look at things differently, saying things like ‘Kane, you’re the top scorer, you’ve reached the final, you’re fantastic,’ etc.”

“If you look back at major events over the past few years, the media have always been skeptical about my physical condition or competitive form, but I know I’m well-prepared. As the tournament progresses, I’ll get better and sharper in attack.”

“In addition, people always judge me by the number of goals I score, but my role goes beyond just shooting and scoring. As captain, my role also includes defensive contributions, as well as the impact of my off-the-ball runs.”
