Canadian Coach: No Interest in USMNT Job Until Major Shift at USSF

Recently, Canadian coach Jesse Marsch, who is American, was asked at a press conference whether he had any interest in coaching the U.S. team. He candidly stated that he would have no interest in the position unless there was a significant change at the U.S. Soccer Federation.

Jesse Marsch said, “I won’t be bidding farewell to the Canadian national team; I have no interest in that job with the U.S. team.”

“Unless there’s a major shift at U.S. Soccer, I don’t think I’ll have much interest in the head coaching position for the U.S. team.”

The U.S. Soccer Federation has recently announced the dismissal of head coach Gregg Berhalter. It was then reported that the USSF had reached out to Jurgen Klopp, but U.S. fans met the news with derision, believing it to be merely a PR move by the federation and that they would ultimately choose a less qualified and less renowned candidate.
