On July 16th, La Liga side Sevilla announced officially that Atlético Madrid midfielder Saúl has joined the team on loan, with an option to renew his contract at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Saúl came up through the Atlético Madrid youth system and made his first-team debut in the Europa League round of 16 against Beşiktaş during the 2011/12 season. In the 13/14 season, he was loaned out to Rayo Vallecano where he established himself in La Liga. He was then promoted to the first team by head coach Diego Simeone. Between 2016 and 2021, Saúl played 242 games for Atlético Madrid, scoring 30 goals and providing 13 assists. At the international level, he has represented Spain in 19 matches, contributing 3 goals and 2 assists.
The current market value of this 29-year-old Spanish midfielder is €7.5 million.
