According to EFE, at that time, hundreds of Argentine fans gathered in the Plaza of the Monument to watch the final together. The fan climbed onto a nearby marker to get a better view. Security personnel repeatedly warned him to come down immediately or he would be arrested.
Shortly thereafter, the 29-year-old man fell from a height of six meters and died on the spot.
