If Liverpool signs Takefusa Kubo, Real Madrid would receive half of the transfer fee

According to recent Japanese media reports, Liverpool is close to signing Japanese national team winger Takefusa Kubo, who currently plays for Real Sociedad. It is reported that their offer could be as high as €65 million.

The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo points out that if this transfer goes through, Takefusa Kubo’s former club, Real Madrid, would also receive a significant sum.

Kubo transferred from Real Madrid to Real Sociedad in 2022 for a fee of €6.5 million, but Real Madrid retained 50% ownership of the player. Therefore, should Liverpool pay the reported €65 million to sign Kubo, Real Madrid would receive approximately €27 million from the deal.

However, as of now, only Japanese media outlets have reported on Kubo’s potential transfer. Major English media sources, including well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano, have not yet followed up on these reports.
