TA: To Sign a Big-Name Player, Barca Is Considering Selling Stars This Summer

According to The Athletic (TA), Barcelona has put eight players on its transfer list to raise funds for the signing of a high-profile player this summer.

Barcelona continues to face serious financial difficulties and cannot spend freely. The club is still trying to find ways to comply with La Liga regulations, given its outstanding debts.

Barcelona is eager to strengthen its squad this summer in order to compete with Real Madrid. They have been closely monitoring two key contributors to Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.

However, Barcelona needs to sell players in order to secure the funds required for their targets. According to TA, a total of eight players have been included on the “transfer list.”

Two high-earners, Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araújo, are on the list. However, both are currently injured, making it difficult to sell them to other clubs. Raphinha is unwilling to leave Barca, while his Brazilian compatriot Roko is open to a move.

Given the surplus of center-backs, Jules Koundé and Mikail Félix may also be sold. Koundé, who was loaned out to Aston Villa last season, seems more likely to be sold, whereas Félix has not yet attracted much interest.

Ferran Torres, who joined from Manchester City for €55 million, is also on the list for sale. Despite being versatile and scoring goals, he has not earned much trust.

The final player on the “transfer list” is midfielder Oriol Romeu, who at 32 years old has seen a significant decline in form and spent much of last season on the bench.
