Matrazzi: Many Players Regret Leaving Inter, Doesn't Think Taremi Will Displace Thuram

Recently, former Inter player Marco Matrazzi gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport. During the conversation, he discussed Inter’s summer transfer window and his outlook for the new season’s title race.

Regarding Inter’s summer transfers

So far, I think Inter has been the best team in the summer transfer window. After all, Marotta and Ausilio never make mistakes. There is still room for reinforcement in some positions. Building a better team than last season won’t be easy.

Regarding Inter’s goals for the new season

The league title remains the primary goal. Inter should have won it last season, and even two years ago. The European competitions are slightly different, with more teams having strong squad depth.

Regarding Inzaghi

His influence is huge, everyone can see that. He is one of the behind-the-scenes heroes of Inter becoming champions. As an Inter fan, I am delighted to see him willing to stay with this team long-term.

Regarding Lautaro’s contract extension

The extension until 2029 is his way of showing commitment to the team. He is a true Inter warrior. Unlike others who only pay lip service and secretly sign with other teams, many who left Inter over the past three to four years are starting to regret their decisions.

Regarding Taremi

I don’t think Taremi will displace Thuram from the starting lineup. Thuram is our first choice, one of the top five forwards in Serie A. He is young and works well with Lautaro. If you ask me, I would build the team around Thuram.

Regarding the title race

I favor Napoli. Conte knows how to motivate his players and always handles changes with great enthusiasm.
