Bottas: In 1997, Mika Häkkinen won his first championship at the last race of the season. In that famous race, Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher collided. That event ultimately got me hooked on F1, and I thought, ‘Okay, wow, this is crazy!’
Journalist: Who is your best friend in the paddock?
Bottas: In the F1 paddock, my best friend is my teammate, Zhou Guanyu.
Journalist: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the sport?
Bottas: I think people should be prepared that it’s not going to be an easy road. You need to give it everything you’ve got, have the right people around you, the right support. Finding these things isn’t always easy. But you have to believe in it, because if you don’t believe, then it’s not going to happen. Dream big and go for it!
Journalist: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Bottas: In five years, I’ll be 39… maybe still racing here, but which team, we’ll have to wait and see!
