Journalist: Enzo's Apology Earned Approval from at Least One Player; Maresca to Announce His Return at the Press Conference

According to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Enzo Fernández’s apology has been accepted by at least one player, and Chelsea interim head coach Enzo Maresca is expected to announce his return to the squad at tomorrow’s press conference.

Enzo spoke with several French players within the Chelsea team and personally apologized after being accused of “unreserved racism” by teammate Wesley Fofana.

The 23-year-old Argentine international arrived in Atlanta, USA, and explained and clarified his previous actions to his teammates, which involved singing a song mocking the French team as an African team, causing controversy.

French players Disasi, Badiashile, Ugochukwu, Nkunku, Gusto, and Fofana are all part of the Chelsea contingent on the US tour.

It is understood that at least one member of the French contingent within Chelsea expressed understanding after hearing Enzo’s explanation. Chelsea interim head coach Maresca is expected to confirm Enzo’s return at tomorrow’s press conference. The Argentine midfielder joined the club in 2023 for a transfer fee of £107 million from Benfica.

Enzo also offered to make a donation to an anti-discrimination charity, and Chelsea will match this donation through its foundation. This incident is now considered resolved internally.
