On July 15th, the Euro Cup and the Copa America came to an end, allowing fans to take a temporary break from their late-night viewing sessions after nearly a month of intense competition.
In the Euro Cup, Spain triumphed over England with a 2-1 victory, securing the championship title. Spain’s undefeated run showcased their dominance in this new era, while England was left with the silver medal for the second consecutive Euro Cup, a bittersweet outcome. Teams like the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, and France also made lasting impressions on the fans with their performances.
When it comes to the Euro Cup, some say that international tournaments are at their best when it’s the Euro Cup, featuring the highest level of tactical play; others lament that the match times can be grueling for older fans.
In the Copa America, the final took place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, USA. Argentina emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Colombia thanks to a substitute goal by Lautaro in extra time, claiming their 16th Copa America title. During the game, Lionel Messi, who had been substituted off due to injury, was seen in tears, while Angel Di Maria’s last appearance was emotionally touching. Argentina’s back-to-back victories in major tournaments included the 2021 Copa America, the 2022 World Cup, and the 2024 Copa America. In this tournament, teams such as Uruguay, Brazil, Canada, and Venezuela also provided memorable moments for fans.
Regarding the Copa America, some fans noted that morning matches were quite friendly, much like watching NBA games, without disrupting daily routines. Others mentioned that despite having fewer participating teams, the quality of play was consistently high, and there were no extra-time periods except in the final, making for a fast-paced tournament with plenty of goals. Some even commented that without Messi, the Copa America might not attract as much attention.
