ESPN reports that US international Tyler Adams has suffered a severe back injury and has undergone surgery.
Adams plays as a midfielder and is currently with Premier League side Bournemouth. He played through the pain to participate in the Copa America with the US team this year, but they failed to advance from the group stage. Bournemouth manager Iraola revealed: “He really wanted to play in the Copa America, as it was very important to him, but he was still in a lot of pain, so he underwent surgery right after the team was eliminated.”
“It’s hard to say how long it will take for him to recover, but it looks unlikely that he will be fit at the start of the season, possibly not until September or October,” Iraola said, indicating that Adams is likely to miss Bournemouth’s Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest.
