UK Media: After Two Consecutive Failed Title Challenges, Arteta Decides to Keep Poaching from Man City

The Athletic reports that Arsenal have signed Darren Rogerson, an analyst for Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad.

This will be the fifth time Arteta has poached someone from his former club, Manchester City. Over the past two years, Arsenal have competed with City for the Premier League title, but have fallen short each time. The Mirror suggests that Arteta seems to have adopted a “if you can’t beat them, sign them” approach.

Rogerson will complete his move to the Emirates Stadium this summer and will begin working with Arteta’s first team in the early months of the new season. Rogerson previously worked at Sheffield United, Rangers, and Derby County. He also had a stint with Manchester City’s U18s before moving up to the elite development squad. Rogerson is not the only member of staff to have recently made the switch from Manchester City to Arsenal.

Ben Chadwick left his role at City to become Arsenal’s head of analysis, having held the same position under Pep Guardiola. Set-piece coach Nicolas Jover has also proved to be very popular since joining Arteta in London.

In addition to staff, Arsenal have also poached two players from Manchester City in recent years, including forward Gabriel Jesus and left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
