Recently, Zhang Xin, Secretary-General of the Chinese Olympic delegation, stated that the team’s performance in the first half generally met pre-game expectations.
Zhang Xin said, “Up to now, eight days of competition have been completed in the Paris Olympics, with 144 events finished, accounting for 44% of all events; 106 events involving the Chinese delegation have been completed, making up 45% of all events they are participating in. In the first eight days of competition, Chinese athletes demonstrated the spirit of Chinese sports and the Olympic spirit, uniting together, persevering through challenges, striving forward, and winning a total of 37 medals including 16 golds, 12 silvers, and 9 bronzes. Most teams performed exceptionally well, and the overall performance of the delegation is consistent with pre-game expectations.
In the second half of the games, the Chinese delegation will compete in another 130 events, and will continue to vie for medals in diving, table tennis, badminton, gymnastics, athletics, and other events. Additionally, finals for weightlifting, synchronized swimming, canoe sprint, track cycling, boxing, taekwondo, wrestling, sport climbing, and breaking will commence one after another, and these are key events where the Chinese delegation aims to win gold and silver. In the second half of the competition, delegations from the United States, France, Australia, Japan, and others also have many events with strong contenders for gold and silver, so competition will be fiercer, and the matches more exciting.”
