Manchester United Plans Staff Cuts! Employees Ask: Splurging Hundreds of Millions on Transfers, Yet Being Penny-Pinchers with Regular Folks?

On July 24, according to a BBC report, Manchester United plans significant staff reductions, cutting 250 jobs from its current workforce of 1,100 employees, causing widespread anxiety and considerable dissatisfaction among the staff.

Before Manchester United’s trip to the United States for commercial matches, some employees were already informed that they would not be traveling with the club. In recent club meetings, more and more employees have been told they face redundancy, with official club representatives declining to comment on the matter.

Sir Ramcliffe, since taking the helm at Manchester United, has been determined to reduce the club’s operational costs. The club’s employees are deeply unhappy, arguing that the club has squandered £1 billion in transfer fees on underperforming players, yet seeks to save money on regular staff, which in reality is insignificant to the club’s overall finances.

In the 2023-24 season, Manchester United finished only eighth in the league, an unsatisfactory performance, ultimately salvaging some pride by winning the FA Cup and securing qualification for the Europa League.
